Gym and personal training
- Define Fitness Personal Training – Based in Beckenham, this is a gym with several experienced personal trainers. Since going to them a few months ago, I have lost over a stone in weight. My trainer, Andy, has helped me with my diet and my exercise regime, and as a result I generally feel better and healthier. One of the problems my friends have had with personal trainers is their inability to think out of the box when it comes to commuting, traveling and working abroad, and similar. Andy has been able to help me even though I spend half of my life in hotels and where its not possible to cook for myself all the time. 4sq Facebook
Food
- Horton’s Fresh Fish – Beckenham’s fishmonger. They opened in the last couple of years and sell a variety of fresh fish and sea food. Fantastic staff. Great produce. Like them on Facebook and receive a discount. 4sq.
- Vic Gibson Butchers – I’ve just discovered this butchers in the last couple of weeks. No complaints so far. The staff are helpful. Good variety of meat and they are busy which means they will survive the threat of local supermarkets. Next door is a greengrocer. 4sq.
- Villagers Sausages – Sausages, Boerwors, Biltong. Reliable, good quality sausages. Facebook. 4sq.
- J. Andrews – my last butcher. Just a bit too far away from where I live to use it all the time. Great BBQ packs in the summer. They also sell fresh bread. They will deliver within their area.
Decorators, Interior, Exterior and Workmen
- Splat Decorating – First class decoration by Colin and his assistant Ben. They’ve decorated 5 of my rooms already and refurbished 2 of them to a very high standard. I’m planning to use them this year to finish the house off. They use Dulux paint and are a Dulux Select Decorator. Colin operates online so is happy to discuss everything by e-mail which makes it easy for busy people like me to do business with him.
- Guy Plastering Ltd – Graham has plastered several of our rooms and helped with the refurbishment of our kitchen. The kitchen involved sealing everything up to avoid dust and plaster getting in, and he was very successful. His work is of a high standard.
