Friday 31 January 2020 is a sad day for me as the UK is withdrawing from the European Union at 11pm. I wrote about my feelings shortly after the referendum in 2016. I felt very numb after that referendum result and largely my feelings towards Brexit have not changed. For some people, it is a day of celebration.

Whether you are a supporter of remaining or leaving, the outcome has been decided and we are leaving. We need to make the best of the situation. There will be a period of time of uncertainty and there will be an impact on our day to day lives. For example, I expect to see the price of goods rise from countries where we do not have established trade agreements. We may need visas to travel to the continent in the future. But none of these things will be impossible. There will be different processes to follow but we will simply have to get on with it.
