Systems is the day job. I am a consultant on Information Systems. I rarely talk about that here. In fact, what you will get here is talk about brewing beer and the occasional rant.
Previously, I studied Mathematics and ended up with a PhD from the University of London.
Outside of work, I brew beer, study languages (currently Russian), grow vegetables and ride my bike. I’m a member of both CAMRA (although this is under consideration…) and NAWB. At the NAWB 2017 national show, my Dry Stout came 2nd and at the Ware Wine & Beer Circle annual show 2017 a similar brew came 4th.
I support Tottenham Hotspur and Essex County Cricket Club. However my favourite sport is Baseball. I support both the New York Yankees and the New York Mets baseball teams – it may well be against the law to support both but so what. I’m usually in America to see the teams play once a year and I’m in the process of visiting all the Major League Baseball stadiums. 14 to go.
Between 2011 and 2012 I lost 15kg by changing my diet and exercise regime. I started cycling and invested in a personal trainer. In 2012, I completed 100 days on the Slow-Carb diet®, a diet described in The 4-Hour Body by Tim Ferriss. I lost a further 10kg of weight. Cycling and the gym along with sensible diet seems to keep the weight down.
